Postgraduate Medical Councils

CPMEC comprises the following organisations:

Postgraduate Medical Councils (PMCs) are generally responsible for developing, supporting and monitoring the education and training of junior doctors to allow them to meet the requirements of Medical Registration Boards for general registration and to progress to vocational training. This role includes PMCs establishing and maintaining standards for accreditation, and building supervisory capacity to support the prevocational medical workforce. PMCs provide general support to junior doctors and international medical graduates working in prevocational positions in the Australian healthcare system. Most PMCs are also responsible for allocation of medical graduates to accredited intern training positions. Some also allocate graduates to PGY2 training positions.
